Use of Benzophenone-3 |
| Benzophenone-3, as the core sunscreen ingredient of skin care/cosmetics products such as sunscreen, isolation cream, liquid foundation, lipstick, etc., can prevent ultraviolet rays from penetrating the skin and reducing sunburn, tanning and photoaging by absorbing ultraviolet rays and converting them into low-energy heat release. The amount of addition is usually 2%~10% (in line with the limits of cosmetics regulations in various countries). It is used as a light stabilizer for polymer materials such as plastics (PE/PP/PMMA), rubber, coatings (polyurethane paint, acrylic paint), fibers (polyester/nylon), etc., to prevent materials from yellowing, brittleness, cracking, and decreased mechanical properties due to ultraviolet radiation, improve the outdoor weather resistance of products, and extend their service life. The addition amount is generally 0.1% to 2%. It is added to shampoo and conditioner to protect hair from UV damage (reducing dryness, splitting, and fading); It is used for food/cosmetics packaging film and plastic containers to prevent the contents from oxidizing, deteriorating, and changing color due to ultraviolet radiation. It serves as a light stabilizer for inks and adhesives, enhancing the light resistance of outdoor printed materials and adhesive components; It can also be used for glass coating and preparation of UV resistant glass. |
