Product Introduction

1. Product Introduction:

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is an anionic polyelectrolyte produced by the reaction of sodium chloroacetate with alkali cellulose. It is classified into high viscosity (HV-CMC), medium viscosity (MV-CMC), low viscosity (LV-CMC), and alkaline medium viscosity types. All appear as white or light yellow powder, non-toxic, soluble in cold or hot water, forming a viscous colloidal solution.

2. Properties and Applications:

In drilling fluids, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose primarily serves as a viscosity enhancer and filtration reducer. Its long molecular chains can adsorb multiple clay particles, improving mud cake cementation, inhibiting shale hydration and swelling, and stabilizing wellbore walls. CMC’s aqueous solution exhibits excellent properties and chemical stability, resisting corrosion and spoilage, and is physiologically harmless. It functions as a suspending agent, stabilizes emulsions, offers strong adhesion and salt resistance, and maintains stability against oils and organic solvents. Consequently, it is widely used in petroleum, food, textile, pharmaceutical, papermaking, and daily chemical industries.
