Solvent

Dichloromethane, also known as dichloroethane or methyl chloroform, abbreviated as DCM, is a colorless organic compound with a pungent odor similar to ether. Its chemical formula is CH2Cl2. This compound is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH4) with chlorine atoms. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, it is a non flammable low boiling point solvent under normal usage conditions. Its vapor only forms a weakly combustible mixture when it becomes highly concentrated in high-temperature air, and is commonly used to replace flammable petroleum ether, ether, etc. It has good solubility and is widely used in industrial fields, such as industrial solvents, intermediates, and coolants. It also has important applications in pharmaceutical preparation, laboratory, and pharmaceutical industry.
