Product Introduction

Pigment Yellow 13 is a typical organic azo yellow pigment, classified under the disazo pigment category. Chemically, it is mostly a derivative of bis-acetoacetanilide, and is a widely used mid-yellow pigment variety in the industrial sector.
It exhibits a bright greenish-yellow shade with pure hue, high tinting strength, and relatively good hiding power. Compared with other yellow pigments of the same type, its color tone leans towards a soft, delicate yellow, making it easy to coordinate with other pigments in color-mixing systems.
Light and weather fastness: It ranks at a medium level, making it suitable for scenarios that do not have extremely high weather resistance requirements.
Heat resistance: It has good heat resistance and can withstand short-term high-temperature processing at 200–220℃, without easy decomposition or discoloration in processes like plastic injection molding and extrusion.
Solvent and migration resistance: It has moderate solvent resistance, and slight bleeding may occur in some strong polar solvents. Its migration resistance is average, so it is not suitable for applications with strict migration requirements (e.g., long-term contact applications of flexible PVC).
In terms of chemical properties, it is insoluble in water and slightly soluble in a few organic solvents. It exists in powder form with good dispersibility, and can be uniformly dispersed in media such as plastics, coatings, and inks. Moreover, it has relatively low production cost and outstanding cost-effectiveness.
It is a commonly used pigment for coloring resins such as polyolefins (PE, PP), polystyrene (PS), and ABS. It can be used in the production of yellow plastic toys, daily utensils, plastic casings, packaging films, etc. However, due to its limited migration resistance, it is rarely used in flexible PVC and food-contact plastics (unless it strictly complies with the corresponding standards).
Coatings field: It is suitable for industrial coatings, architectural coatings, decorative coatings, etc., and can be formulated into bright yellow coatings, which are mostly used for interior decoration or outdoor scenarios with low weather resistance requirements.
Inks field: It is often used in offset printing inks and flexographic printing inks, for producing yellow printed products or for color-mixing of color inks. It is applicable to packaging printing, advertising printing, etc., delivering printed products with bright colors and controllable costs.
It can be used for coloring stationery (e.g., colored crayons, watercolor pigments) and rubber products. It can also serve as a papermaking colorant for manufacturing yellow paper, meeting the color requirements of mid-to-low-end products.
The light and weather fastness of Pigment Yellow 13 is weaker than that of high-performance yellow pigments (e.g., Pigment Yellow 180), so it is not suitable for products exposed to long-term outdoor sunlight. Meanwhile, it should be noted that it is not a mainstream choice for food-contact grade pigments. Unless it has passed specific food safety certifications, it must not be used for coloring food packaging materials.
