What is Unsaturated polyester resin?
Unsaturated polyester resin is a thermosetting resin that can be cured into an insoluble and non melting polymer under the action of heat or initiators. But this polymer has low mechanical strength and cannot meet most of the requirements for use. But when reinforced with glass fiber, it can become a composite material, commonly known as “Fiberglass”.

What is Unsaturated polyester resin used for?
The main use of unsaturated polyester is to make fiberglass reinforced plastic, which is one of the main varieties of reinforced plastics. Its molding method includes: 1. Hand lay method, which is to spray a layer of resin on the mold coated with release agent, then lay a layer of reinforcing material, squeeze out bubbles, and repeat the operation until the desired thickness is reached, and finally cure and demold. 2. The lamination method is to immerse glass cloth in unsaturated polyester and then laminate it through hot pressing and curing. It has excellent tensile strength and impact toughness, low relative density, good thermal and electrical insulation properties, as well as good light transmission, weather resistance, acid resistance, and sound insulation. Its price is much cheaper than epoxy resin fiberglass, so it is widely used in the manufacture of radar antenna covers, aircraft parts, car shells, small boats, transparent corrugated boards and other building materials, sanitary ware, chemical equipment and pipelines.

How do we use Unsaturated polyester resin?
Unsaturated polyester resin usually needs to be mixed with a curing agent (such as methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) in a certain proportion before it can be used. Before mixing, carefully read the product manual to understand the correct ratio and mixing method. When mixing, clean mixing tools should be used to avoid mixing impurities, and the mixing should be completed within the specified time to ensure that the resin and curing agent react fully.
